Reach the End of the HIT Roadmap with LINTECH

Navigating Health Information Technology (HIT) has become increasingly important for companies in the LTPAC sector since last year’s release of the “Roadmap for Health IT in Long-Term and Post-Acute Care (LTPAC)” identifying five areas providers should focus on.
The five priority areas for 2012-2014 included:
1.     Care Coordination
2.     Quality
3.     Business Imperative
4.     Consumer-Centered
5.     Workforce Acceleration
Aside from the release of the roadmap, Medicare requirements have also pushed organizations to focus on similar important areas. Leveraging technology to accomplish higher quality care, underscore accountability and deliver overall efficiency is of utmost importance.
According to an article by LTPAC HIT, the next step after publication of the 2012-2014 roadmap was to, “Invest in emerging technologies, business models and workforce skill sets that support significant improvements in workflow automation, decision support, HIE, user productivity and consumer engagement.”
If your organization hasn’t already, now is the time to invest in a LTPAC partner and LINTECH is prepared to assist you. LINTECH’s COMET™ fully-integrated software solutions improves care coordination and quality by providing a complete suite of information detailing patient profiles with accurate, updated data. Billing and audit trails are driven by the system creating a robust set of reporting data and tools to monitor the overall business model, meeting the business imperative focus. With LINTECH’s COMET, a consumer-centered organization is achievable. Our system streamlines the business process, freeing staff and allowing more time for customer interaction. Ultimately, workforce acceleration exists upon implementation of LINTECH’s COMET through our new, innovative, LTPAC technology, which works to improve overall business processes.

LINTECH Participates in LeadingAge CAST EHR White Paper

LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) recently announced the release of whitepaper, EHR For Long-Term and Post-Acute Care. A Primer for Planning and Vendor Selection. LINTECH’s Chief Software Architect, Doron Gutkind was proud to participate as a member of the EHR Workgroup, along with other HIT leaders. Also, LINTECH is pleased to be one of the EHR vendors participating in the 2013 CAST EHR Selection Matrix.

The purpose of this paper is to aid LeadingAge members, CAST members and other aging services organizations in choosing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system that fits the needs of the organization, its providers and consumers/patients/clients. This paper builds upon these two excellent toolkits by summarizing the important steps a provider should take.

The selection matrix focuses on clinical systems that are offered by and aims to show providers how EHR’s impact clinical outcomes and reimbursement. LINTECH's COMET Point of Care – Clinical/EMR program is highlighted in the matrix and offers automated solutions to improve workflow, productivity and the quality and accuracy of real-time documentation. Continuity of Care begins with the Electronic Medical Record

A recent report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) shows Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation across hospitals has exceeded government expectations. DHHS recently announced that it “has met and exceeded its goal for 50 percent of doctor offices and 80 percent of eligible hospitals to have EHRs by the end of 2013.”

EHRs contain information from all the clinicians involved in a patient’s care and all authorized clinicians involved in a patient’s care can access the information to provide care to that patient. EHRs follow patients to each care setting and help ensure continuity of care delivery. Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), a vital component of a patient’s entire EHR, contain notes and information collected by and for the clinicians in that office, clinic, or hospital and are mostly used by providers for diagnosis and treatment.

EMRs give providers an enhanced ability to track data over time, monitor health status and improve health care quality, therefore, they have become more valuable than paper records. Electronic sharing of patient records ensures accuracy in documentation, reduces duplicative tests, allows for better coordination of care, improves operational efficiency and ultimately helps to reduce hospital readmissions.

So what is on the horizon for the LTPAC provider?

As more hospitals and health professionals begin to rely on EHRs, providers will have an increased need to implement their own EMR systems in order to “connect” with the patient’s overall EHR throughout the transition of care.

While LTPAC providers are currently excluded from the Medicare incentives, EMR and EHR adoption has become critical to the broader health care improvement efforts that have started as a result of the Affordable Care Act.
